Manual Handling Training

Priority Healthcare provides practical based manual handling training for staff of Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACF's) for which we provide contracted service. These sessions are tailored to cover a broad range of topics to meet the specific needs of individual RACF's. Training sessions are conducted onsite with groups of up to 15 people per session.  

Training Content

• Basic human anatomy with an easy to understand explanation and demonstration of how and why manual handling injuries occur.
• Education regards common injuries and their impact on your staff well-being when correct manual handling procedures and protocols are not followed.
• Warm up and stretching exercises to avoid soft tissue injuries.
• Practical lifting exercises tailored to your facilities requirements.
• Practical demonstrations of correct sitting, standing and sleeping postures.
• Ergonomic principles to avoid Musculo-skeletal disorders.
• Discussion of "No Lift Policy".
• Group practice for correct transfer techniques: including slide sheets, sling hoists and standing hoists.
